India goalkeeper Bichu Devi Karibam won the Magic Skill Award at the FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 for her last-gasp save against England.
Her save in the final minute of the game against England that ensured India’s qualification from the pool stage on the way towards a 5th-place finish – its best finish in 52 years.
The Indian goalkeeper received 52% of all the votes, well clear of the other two nominees. Germany’s Yani Zhong and Netherlands’ Judith Vandermeiren.

In a video posted on the Hockey India X account, Bichu said, “The save against England was a very special moment for me. Thank you everyone for your love and support. Please keep supporting us over the next 10 days at the Asian Games!”
The award for the men’s competition went to Abdul Rahman for his goal for Pakistan against Wales.
