Novak Djokovic confirms participation in China Open

Novak Djokovic on Wednesday confirmed that he will feature at the upcoming China Open, an ATP 500 event set to be played in Beijing from September 28 to October 6.

“I’m very happy to announce that I’m coming back after many years to play in Beijing at the China Open,” Djokovic said in a message on his Instagram story.

The 39-year-old will return to the event after 11 years. The event also features World No. 1 Jannik Sinner, and the newly-crowned U.S. Open champion Alexander Zverev.

“I am excited to come back and perform in front of all of you at the National Tennis Centre – one of the nicest venues we have in tennis. A place where I had some incredible memories and great success throughout my career,” he added.

Djokovic will be eager to bounce back after his shock first-round exit at the U.S. Open against Mariano Navone, a result which saw him drop out of the ATP Top-10 for the first time in eight years.
