Tom Cruise's latest film Digger may not have been a hit with critics but the unusual black comedy has found a fan in Hollywood A-lister Anne Hathaway. The Oscar winner took to Letterboxd to review the film, which has been one of the biggest box office bombs of Cruise's illustrious career.

"I loved this brilliant movie," Hathaway wrote. "It’s smart and trippy and aggressive and funny and ambitious. It’s worth making the time see and decide for yourself what you make of it.

"For me? 10/10," the actor added before giving the film five stars.

In August, Hathaway was announced as starring opposite Cruise in the long-awaited sequel to Days of Thunder.

Deadline reports that Hathaway is expected to play the engineer and owner of a racing team, while Cruise will reprise his role as Cole Trickle. The film is scheduled to be released on 2 June 2028.

The announcement comes during a very busy period for Hathaway both personally and professionally.

The actress is expecting her third child with husband Adam Shulman, topping off a year which has seen her star in The Devil Wears Prada 2, The Odyssey, and Colleen Hoover adaptation Verity.

Speaking about her 2026 at an awards press conference for The Odyssey, Hathaway said: "I don't want to get ahead of myself, but I think I'm entering a new chapter. It feels that way, like maybe that's happening."

Reflecting on character Queen Penelope, Hathaway described her as being "just on her own journey and focused on how she feels" without trying to "smooth the road for other people".

"Normally when I play characters like that, they're the bad guy, but she's not," she added. "She's just sitting in her power, such as it is."

Meanwhile, despite Digger's poor box office performance, Cruise has said he's "so proud" of the film.

In an Instagram post, the actor shared: "DIGGER is officially in theaters and I am so honored to have had the opportunity to create this film alongside such talented artists. Thank you to the entire cast and crew for your dedication, hard work, and joy. The experience was truly unforgettable and I’m so proud of what we created."

Digger is in cinemas now.
