EastEnders airs surprise exit after huge bombshell in early iPlayer release

EastEnders spoilers follow for Tuesday’s episode (22 September), which is available to watch now on BBC iPlayer and hasn’t yet aired on TV.

EastEnders has aired a surprise exit for a pregnant Priya Nandra-Hart after she dropped a bombshell at the end of yesterday's episode, telling Ravi Gulati he wasn't the baby's biological father.

In yesterday's episode, having put Priya's recent fling with Max Branning behind them, Ravi and Priya attended their baby scan, where they learned they were expecting a boy.

Convinced that Max was the baby's father, Cindy Beale decided to do some digging to uncover the truth.

After rifling through Priya's things, Cindy found a DNA test confirming Max was the father and ordered Priya to leave the Square, or she would "destroy everything."

When Ravi found a distressed Priya, she told him she was going to Leeds to look after her cousin, but after being pressed for answers, she came clean to Ravi, telling him that the baby wasn't his.

Picking up where yesterday's episode left off, Ravi, heartbroken and devastated by Priya's betrayal, smashed a mug against the wall.

"You know what, Priya? Deep down, in here, I think I always knew. I think I always knew, but I couldn't let myself go there; I just couldn't."

After an emotional talk, Priya said she wasn't leaving Walford and begged Ravi to stay with her, but he stormed off, leaving her in tears.

Priya told Cindy she was staying in Walford, but later met Linda and Oscar, whose comments left her questioning her decision after they said she had dodged a bullet by leaving Max.

After hearing their views on Max, a frightened Priya was determined to keep him away from the baby.

Encouraged by Vinny, Ravi begged Priya to stay and promised to raise the child as his own, but Priya, fearing Cindy's threats, refused.

"I can't risk Max finding out," said Priya, telling Ravi she was worried he would take the baby again, as he had before.

Priya asked Ravi to give her until Christmas to find somewhere new for them and the children to live, saying they could join her later on.

She ran into Nugget and Avani, who asked where she was going. She told them she was going to nurse her cousin. The children begged her to let them come with her.

As Priya left Walford in a taxi, she dropped a bombshell, telling Peter that Lauren knew about Max’s affair. She then shared an emotional goodbye with Ravi, telling him to "take care of my babies".

EastEnders airs on Mondays-Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
