Hilary Duff Talks Lucky Me Tour, Pre-Show Rituals & ‘With Love’ Dance Redemption | Takes Us Out

Hilary Duff joins Billboard’s Takes Us Out at Loose Cannon to talk the Lucky Me Tour, setlist surprises, and finally reclaiming the iconic “With Love” dance. From “Small Rooms, Big Nerves” to arena nights, Hilary breaks down what it took to feel confident onstage again. Over the Marlow (an iced cortado with salted maple cloud foam), wine, and a tuna melt, Hilary dishes on fan requests like adding “The Math,” the song she’s not ready to put back in the set, and her pre-show rituals (bathroom warmups, squats, and the “pink bubble”). Plus: dream collabs, spooky season energy (“we have witches inside”), and the throwback moments she never wants to relive.

Hilary Duff

It’s inside too. We have witches inside.

Delisa Shannon

What’s going on with you? What’s inside of you? Hello, Hilary Duff.

Hilary Duff

Hi.

Delisa Shannon

How are you?

Hilary Duff

I’m great. How are you?

Delisa Shannon

Well, I’m so excited. We’re here at Loose Cannon.

Hilary Duff

Yes.

Delisa Shannon

Why did you choose to bring me here?

Hilary Duff

One of my best friends of all time and her husband opened this spot, a neighborhood spot, such a cutie little gem. Always a line out the door.

Delisa Shannon

Yes.

Hilary Duff

Craziest breakfast sandwich you ever had. I’m not having the breakfast sandwich today. It’s very hot out-

Delisa Shannon

You can’t do that.

Hilary Duff

. . . and it’s already, like, almost 4.

Delisa Shannon

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Hilary Duff

No breakfast sandwich for me at 4 p.m.

Delisa Shannon

I love this area that we’re in. I feel like we’re at this corner cafe. It’s giving Gilmore Girls.

Hilary Duff

100.

Delisa Shannon

You know what I mean?

Hilary Duff

Only we don’t have the fall weather today. October is, like, the time you think, “Oh, we’re about to have some, like, reprieve.” No. Hottest month until Halloween day, which is a night that you’re outside with your kids.
