Chris Pratt's The Terminal List Season 3 Return & Book Adaptation Story Teased By Author & Creator

Author of The Terminal List book series Jack Carr and series creator David DiGilio have opened up about season 3, including what Chris Pratt's role in the show will be moving forward. The Terminal List season 2 pulled from the pages of True Believer, the second book in Carr's novel series, which sees a fugitive James Reece (Pratt) recruited by the CIA to combat a more technologically-advanced Al-Qaeda. Season 2 was not only a sequel to season 1, but also followed up on elements from prequel series The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, building out its shared universe.
In an interview with ScreenRant's Liam Crowley, Carr and DiGilio opened up about future plans for the franchise, including where they believed The Terminal List season 3 could take Reece. Carr opened up about the possibility of season 3 in general, teasing a forthcoming announcement about what the future of the series will look like. DiGilio didn't confirm whether season 3 will adapt the third book in the series, Savage Son, but praised the book while stating there would be some big changes to its onscreen adaptation if it happens.
Check out what Carr and DiGilio had to say below:
Jack Carr: I am not sure what we're allowed to talk about as far as that goes, but I'm hopeful, and I can say that things are moving forward. There should be some announcements coming soon. I wouldn't be surprised if you're getting a hot tip on that before anybody else. There are some announcements coming, but once again, you know this industry, you know this business, things can derail at any point along the way, but I'm hopeful for what's to come. I feel good. I'm feeling pretty good right now.
David DiGilio: I think the thing that I can talk about is that we are massive fans of Savage Son. That is a book that everybody should read. It is one of his most repulsive and contained thrillers. When we, knock on wood, get to tackle that book, we're going do something completely different with it befitting of that novel.
While Carr and DiGilio's statements don't necessarily confirm Savage Son will be the next installment in The Terminal List's shared universe, there appear to be plans in place for the third book when the time comes. Carr is more direct in talking about the continuation of the show, teasing multiple announcements that are going to be coming soon. Whether this is about season 3 or another show in the universe akin to Dark Wolf's story remains to be seen. But something new appears to be right around the corner.
DiGilio has previously stated that The Terminal List has a 10-year plan of weaving various stories together, something that's allowed for the series' onscreen universe to explore other stories, such as Dark Wolf. It's unclear what this means for the broader franchise as of writing, though, since nothing new has officially been confirmed yet. But, since Pratt's leading role as Reece is what the rest of the franchise orbits around, his presence will be important no matter where the franchise goes.
In total, there are eight books in The Terminal List series, only two of which have been adapted onscreen. Five of those that haven't made it onscreen yet follow James Reece, while another novel, Cry Havoc, acts as a prequel following his father, Tom Reece. The next book in the series, State of Exile, is set to be released on October 5, 2027. As for the TV series, it sounds like something just as expansive is being planned onscreen, with season 2 of the show being just the start of something much bigger about to unfold.
Question 1 of 3
Although there's no word yet on what The Terminal List's big announcements are going to be, Carr and DiGilio have a clear vision as to what the future of the series looks like. Since the show has been enjoying streaming success on Prime Video, there's a strong possibility another chapter is on its way. What that looks like remains to be seen, but since long-term plans are already being considered, it'll likely take the show in a fitting direction.
