‘The Hunting Wives’ Renewed For Season 3 By Netflix Ahead Of Season 2 Release

The frisky wives of Maple Brook will keep hunting. Netflix has given an early Season 3 renewal to The Hunting Wives, its raunchy mystery drama series starring Brittany Snow and Malin Åkerman. Casting for the eight-episode new installment is already underway.

The pickup comes a month and a half ahead of the Season 2 release November 26 as a Netflix-branded series from Lionsgate Television and 3 Arts Entertainment in nearly all countries where Netflix is available.

The unusual qualifier stems from The Hunting Wives‘ unusual origin as a U.S.-only acquisition by Netflix of the finished first season, which had been developed and produced for Starz before reverting back to the studio in the network’s split from Lionsgate.

Despite being only available in the U.S., The Hunting Wives Season 1 spent five total weeks in Netflix’s Global Top 10 English-language TV list, reaching as high as No. 2 in its second week. In light of the success, Netflix made a deal with Lionsgate, which was able to buy the show back in most international markets it had sold it to, making it available on Netflix where it made the Top 10 TV list in 40 countries, reached No. 1 in 10 countries, including the US, and has garnered over 35 million views since its July 2025 release.

Once the vast majority of markets were cleared, Netflix also renewed the series created by Rebecca Cutter based on the bestselling novel by May Cobb for a second season. While Season 1 remains an acquisition, starting with Season 2, The Hunting Wives is a Netflix original. The early Season 3 renewal will allow it to return within a year, an early cadence that is increasingly becoming the standard for streamers on shows that do not require elaborate production and post-production.

“I’m so stoked to be heading back to Maple Brook, and I promise that once you’ve finished Season 2, you’ll be desperate to see what happens next,” said writer, executive producer and showrunner Cutter. “Buckle up, because Season 3 will be even more scandalous and twisted.”

Also executive producing are Erwin Stoff for 3 Arts Entertainment and Cobb. Lionsgate Television is the studio.
