India completed its third consecutive win in the group stages of the Asian Games 2026 men’s hockey tournament with an 8-2 win over South Korea at the Gifu Prefectural Green Stadium on Thursday.

Dilpreet Singh and Abhishek completed a brace each as India extended its lead atop the Group A standings. Sukhjeet Singh, Harmanpreet Singh, Rajinder Singh and Shilanand Lakra were the other scorers for Craig Fulton’s side.

Kim Jaeho and Kim Yongbok found the back of the net for South Korea.

India started the match strongly as it raced off to a commanding lead in the first half. Only one of the four goals it scored in the first 15 minutes came from a Penalty Corner, with the Indian attacking unit working in near-perfect sync.

The momentum continued into the second quarter as Indian clattered in two more goals.

But, South Korea found its footing in the second half to score two goals. India struggled to find its attacking rhythm in the latter stage of the game, with its shortcomings being particularly evident in the penalty corners.
