‘Industry’ Season 5 Casts Ben Platt, Russell Tovey

Ben Platt and Russell Tovey have joined the fifth and final season of “Industry,” Variety has learned.

Platt will play Matt Crenshaw, who is described as “a venture capitalist and an early backer of a wellness-tech company.” Tovey will play Declan P. Davis, said to be “deputy to left-wing politician Nikesh Shah (Bally Gill).”

The new additions join previously announced Season 5 additions Cary Elwes, Dianna Agron, Sam Riley, Jessica Brown Findlay, Luke Manley, Gill, Eduard Poliakov, and Zosia Mamet.

Platt is best known for his Tony Award-winning role in “Dear Evan Hansen,” as well as Broadway productions like “The Book of Mormon.” In TV, he has starred in shows like “The Politician” and “The Beauty,” while his film credits include the screen version of “Dear Evan Hansen,” “Theater Camp,” and the first two “Pitch Perfect” films.

Tovey previously starred in the HBO series “Looking” as well as the drama “Years and Years” at the premium cabler. His other TV roles include “Being Human,” “Quantico,” and “Doctor Who,” while he has been in films like “Plainclothes” and “The History Boys.”

Platt is repped by Immersive, Untitled Agency, CAA, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman. Tovey is repped by Independent Talent Group.

As previously announced, Season 5 of “Industry” will be the show’s last. The series’ cast also includes: Myha’la, Marisa Abela, Kit Harington, Ken Leung, Max Minghella, Miriam Petche, Sagar Radia, Toheeb Jimoh, Charlie Heaton, Amy James-Kelly, Roger Barclay, Andrew Havill, Kiernan Shipka, Kal Penn, Jack Farthing, Stephen Campbell Moore, Claire Forlani, and Edward Holcroft.

“Industry” is created, written, and executive produced by Mickey Down & Konrad Kay. The series is a Bad Wolf Production for HBO/BBC and is executive produced by Jane Tranter, Kate Crowther, and Ryan Rasmussen for Bad Wolf; Kathleen McCaffrey for Little Gems; and Rebecca Ferguson for BBC. Directors for Season 4 included Down & Kay, Michelle Savill, and Luke Snellin. Writers include Down, Kay, and Joseph Charlton.
