Interview with the Vampire's forgotten sequel has officially been resurrected on streaming at the perfect time for the franchise. What began as the first book in Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles series has quickly become a classic vampire story with influence that continues into the modern era. From a 1994 adaptation starring Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise, to the modern day Interview with the Vampire TV show, the first installment has stood the test of time. While working on its own, it also serves as the lead-in to a larger vampiric story on both page and screen.
In terms of the series being adapted in movie form, this continuation came in the form of the 2002 standalone sequel Queen of the Damned. The horror movie pulls from the page of Rice's The Vampire Lestat and The Queen of the Damned, following Lestat (Stuart Townsend) as he becomes the lead singer of a metal band. This draws the attention of the first ever vampire, Akasha (Aaliyah), who begins to hunt him down, all while secret investigative organization the Talamasca get involved too.
Queen Of The Damned Has Been Reinvigorated On Paramount+
Now, 24 years after its original release, Queen of the Damned has found new life on Paramount+. According to data from November 3, 2026, Queen of the Damned is Number 6 on Paramount+ in the United States. That puts it ahead of a number of other major films that have made their way onto the Top 10, including Rush Hour and We're the Millers. The success of the film in the US is indicative of a large audience that has found renewed interest in the movie after decades of dormancy.
This is a rather unusual development for the movie, which was initially panned by critics when it was first released. According to Rotten Tomatoes, Queen of the Damned holds a 17% on the platform with 124 critic reviews, indicating negativity for most who saw the movie. But that's not the case with audiences, who gave the horror movie a 66% on the Popcornmeter based on 250,000 ratings. It appears viewers are more forgiving towards the film, and are willing to give the movie a shot at redemption.
The Interview With The Vampire Sequel Is About To Get A New Shot On Screen
Although Queen of the Damned has polarizing reviews, critical reception for the Interview with the Vampire sequel has been generally negative. But that may not be the case for long, at least when it comes to the movie's forthcoming return via the small screen. After the end of The Vampire Lestat, the third season of AMC's Interview with the Vampire adaptation, it was confirmed that season 4 will be based on Rice's The Queen of the Damned. This means the story will be getting another shot, this time tied to The Vampire Chronicles' larger world.
Question 1 of 3
For now, however, audiences are clearly enamored by Queen of the Damned, enough for it to have gained new life on Paramount+. Although it's unclear how long the film will remain on the Top 10 for, the Interview with the Vampire sequel has clearly left an impression that will continue to be important for the franchise in the years to come.
