Chelsea FC's head coach, in his latest pre-match press conference, has provided fresh updates on Joao Pedro's injury.

Following his noticeable absence in Chelsea's 2-1 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur, Xabi Alonso has provided an injury update on the number one striker for the Blues, Joao Pedro in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Carabao Cup fixture against Liverpool scheduled for Wednesday, October 28th 2026.

Alonso revealed that the Brazilian, who is also the club's highest goalscorer, picked up a thigh injury which could see him miss what has been categorised as multiple weeks for the Blues. He revealed, "Yes, he has an injury on his thigh and he is going to be out for a few weeks, afternoon. Let's see how many, we don’t want to predict on that."

He also added, "He is a key player. We will miss him, but we will have to be ready to deal with the injury and to be competitive and to try to win games with the players that we have available. We are starting tomorrow against Liverpool, a cup game. This is the situation. We are ready to fight for it and ready to prove that we can show the level."

Although Pedro will be a noticeable absence, players like Danny Welbeck, Geovany Quenda and Morgan Rodgers are expected to lead the attack line for Alonso who would be looking to clinch a quarter-final spot in the Carabao Cup.
