The best in show from the 2026 Dog Photography Awards

Heartwarming pictures from the annual Dog Photography Awards showcase the weird and wonderful side of man's best friend. 

The photos include action shots of dogs jumping to catch frisbees and balls, as well as pets peering through bubbles and looking on behind bubble wrap.

The winners were picked from around 1,900 entries from photographers across 50 countries.

The categories covered portraits, action, studio, dogs and people, documentary and open, with £2,119 prize up for grabs. 

Susan Lang gained a second place in the portrait category with her picture of the dog staring at a mural of a cat painted behind.

Honourable mentions went to Sylvain Langler, Melissa Nordan, Kerstin Leichtenmuller, Tianhang Zhang, Sylvain Langler, Michelle Dawkins, Rea Nellen and Carolyn Bray.

The panel that chose from the incredible entries included leading photographers, dog experts and industry professionals.

A spokesman for the event said: 'The Dog Photography Awards organises an annual photography contest that seeks to showcase the most exceptional dog photographs from across the globe.

'Our mission is to celebrate the artistry of top dog photographers, uncover emerging talents, and showcase the extraordinary diversity and charm of dogs.'

Katie Brockman from the United States was awarded Dog Photographer of the Year and also took first place in the Studio Category. This is one of her entries

The hunter becomes the hunted by Susan Lang from the UK took 2nd Place in the Portrait Outdoor category of the Dog Photography Awards 2026

Underwater Fetch by Tianhang Zhang from China, who received an Honourable Mention in the Action category

Puppy's curiosity by Sylvain Langler from France received an Honourable Mention in the Studio category

The real teddy bear by Rhea Nellen from Switzerland received an Honourable Mention in the Studio Category

Best Player by Sylvain Langler from France received an Honourable Mention in the Action category

Flying between the sea and sky by Michelle Dawkins received an Honourable Mention in the Action category

Goose Bubble Wrap Portrait #3 by Melissa Nordan, from the USA, received an Honourable Mention in the Open category

Blinded Trust by Michelle Dawkins received an Honourable Mention in the Action category

Born to Play by Sylvain Langler from France received an Honourable Mention in the Action category

The Lure of the Lurcher by Carolyn Bray from the UK received an Honourable Mention in the Studio category

Kerstin Leichtenmuller from Austria had an Honourable Mention in the Portrait Outdoor category
