Fahmi to Lee Chean Chung: 'Good luck to you'

SHAH ALAM: Lee Chean Chung's decision to resign as the Petaling Jaya member of Parliament will not affect the delivery of services to constituents, said PKR information chief Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil.

Fahmi, who is communications minister, also wished Lee well following his resignation as the Petaling Jaya MP and his decision to quit PKR by Monday.

"That is his choice and we respect his choice. Good luck to him," Fahmi told reporters after attending the Madani Kita Programme Kota Anggerik @ Shah Alam here today.

Fahmi said the party's branch leadership, state assemblymen and councillors would continue to assist Petaling Jaya constituents, while the implementation coordination unit would also help manage applications, including requests for assistance.

"There are several parties, whether the state assemblymen or the branch, who will help coordinate the matter," he said.

Meanwhile, Fahmi said Lee had not attended party meetings or programmes for some time, including the recent PKR national congress in Melaka.

Yesterday, Lee announced his resignation as the Petaling Jaya MP, saying he had met Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul on Thursday to submit his resignation letter, which took effect yesterday.

He also announced that he would resign from PKR by Monday.

Lee said he had received a party decision on Sept 30 suspending his membership for three years.

On June 12, Lee announced his resignation from PKR's Central Leadership Council.

Lee, however, said at the time that he would remain a PKR member and continue serving as the Petaling Jaya MP until the current parliamentary term ends.
