Actor and media personality Nicholas Okwach Ouma, popularly known as Nick Kwach, has reflected on his 16-year journey in the entertainment industry after being recognised among Kenya’s 2026 National Heroes during the Mashujaa Day celebrations.

In a statement shared on Instagram on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, Kwach expressed gratitude for the honour, describing it as a significant milestone in his career as an actor and professional artist.

“Let me make today about myself. Okay, it is not me making it; it is the Hero Council,” he wrote.

Kwach revealed that he received a Hero’s medal from President William Ruto during a ceremony held at State Lodge in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County. The event was also attended by Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.

“I am in my 16th year as an actor and a professional artist, and on this day at the State Lodge in Eldoret I was presented a Hero’s medal by the President of the Republic of Kenya, H.E. Dr William Samoei Ruto, together with the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, H.E. Abiy Ahmed, as a National Hero,” he said.

Nick Kwach Credits Recognition to Years of Dedication

The actor said the recognition by the National Heroes Council affirmed years of hard work and commitment to his craft, giving him renewed motivation to continue contributing to Kenya’s creative industry.

“This recognition through the National Heroes Council validates years of determination and dedication to the craft and solidifies the need to continue creating a path,” he stated.

Kwach also acknowledged the people who have supported his career, including colleagues and collaborators he has worked with on various productions.

His remarks highlighted the collective effort behind creative work, recognising the contributions of actors, production teams and other professionals who help shape Kenya’s entertainment landscape.

For Kwach, the honour represents not only personal achievement but also an opportunity to continue opening doors for others in the industry.
