Moment motorcyclist films himself hitting 189mph on £20,000 bike as he is jailed for four years after high-speed police chase

Translate

This is the moment a motorcyclist filmed himself hitting 189mph before slowing down and goading passing police officers into a high-speed chase.

Amin Belechguer, 29, has now been sentenced to four years in prison after racking up 21 dangerous driving offences.

He was arrested last year after officers spotted Belechguer speeding on his high-powered Kawasaki Ninja H2r motorcycle along the A20 Ashford Road towards Maidstone, Kent, without a registration plate.

The officers had been en route to a separate incident, with their lights and sirens activated, when Belechguer pulled in front of them.

He began slowing down and waved at the policemen to provoke them into a pursuit, at around 10.45pm on June 27, 2025.

The constables pursued Belechguer for a short distance, during which he travelled at more than 130mph on a single carriageway with varying speed limits of between 40 to 60mph.

He also crossed over solid white lines into oncoming traffic while driving on the blind brow of a hill.

The pursuit was deemed too risky to continue and the crew called for backup.

Other officers then deployed a stinger further along the road, which caught Belechguer's motorbike and deflated his tyres.

After bringing his bike to a stop, he attempted to evade capture by running into the bushes at the roadside.

But moments later, officers caught up with him and he was placed into handcuffs.

The bike, which Belechguer bought for around £19,500, was seized at the scene, alongside his phone and GoPro camera.

Officers reviewing his devices discovered that from July 7, 2024, Belechguer had filmed himself riding throughout Kent, London and Essex, at speeds of up to 189mph.

Recovered footage showed him travelling at more than double the speed limit on motorways and through town centres, as well as performing dangerous manoeuvres, such as undertakes and 'wheelies'.

He also filmed himself failing to stop at red lights, racing other vehicles at car meets, and riding on a pavement and pedestrian crossing.

The video clips included the journey that ended in his capture.

Belechguer, of Clapham, London, smirked as he was arrested. He was subsequently charged with 21 counts of dangerous driving.

The 29-year-old pleaded guilty to the offences and was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court on Wednesday.

In addition to a custodial sentence, the bike was made the subject of a forfeiture order and permanently confiscated.

When he is released, Belechguer will be banned from driving for 10 years.

Investigating officer, PC Daniel Goodman, said: 'Officers worked swiftly when presented with the opportunity to arrest a dangerous motorist.

'Despite having to terminate a pursuit due to the dangerousness of Belechguer's driving, teamwork saw his vehicle brought to a stop and secured his arrest.

'Not only did Belechguer drive at triple the speed limit in some instances, but he demonstrated little regard for basic road safety when he failed to adhere to road markings, signage, and traffic lights.

'Throughout the investigation, Belechguer showed no remorse for the fact he placed his life and the lives of other road users at risk on numerous occasions.

'This prison sentence, the confiscation of his bike and a long driving ban will keep other motorists safe for some time to come.'
