Kalinga man swept away by Chico River found dead


BAGUIO CITY — Rescuers on Monday retrieved the body of a 20-year-old man who was earlier swept away by strong currents while crossing the Chico River in Lubuagan, Kalinga.
The body of Jasper Cawi Pallogan was recovered at around 4 p.m. in the river in Barangay Bantay, Tabuk City.
Pallogan was carried away by currents at around 6:30 a.m. while attempting to cross the river near the fishing community of Begwang in Barangay Tanglag.

His mobile phone, footwear, cap and bag were later found along the riverbank.

Personnel from the Lubuagan Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, Municipal Health Office, Kalinga Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Bureau of Fire Protection and Philippine Coast Guard took part in the operation.
