President Bola Tinubu on Friday nominated six executive directors for the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority.

The new nominations comprise three reappointments and three new nominees, all of whom will serve five-year terms upon confirmation.

Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, revealed this in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Friday.

According to a letter from the President to the Senate dated October 30, 2026, the three renominated executive directors are Mr Abiodun Adeniji, Executive Director for Finance and Accounts; Mr Ogbugo Ukoha, Executive Director for Distribution Systems, Storage and Retailing Infrastructure; and Dr Mustapha Lamorde, Executive Director for Health, Safety, Environment and Community.

The three new nominees are Mr Mobolaji Musa, nominated as Executive Director for Hydrocarbon Processing Plants, Installations and Transportation Infrastructure; Ms Ogechukwu Modie, nominated as Executive Director for Economic Regulations and Strategic Planning; and Mr Said Abutalib, nominated as Executive Director for Corporate Services and Administration.

“The President urged the Senate to consider the nominations expeditiously to ensure institutional continuity and strengthen the Authority’s oversight capacity,” the statement read.

Tinubu also approved the appointment of Mrs Jumoke Gafar as Secretary to the Board and Legal Adviser, subject to completion of the statutory processes under Section 46 of the Petroleum Industry Act.

The nominations come months after Tinubu appointed Rabiu Umar as the agency’s chief executive in April.
