Skid Row Unveil New Singer, Unleash Cover of The Who’s “Won’t Get Fooled Again”: Stream

Skid Row have unveiled their new lead singer after a worldwide search. The veteran rock act’s new frontman is a vocalist by the name of Justin Sargent, and he can be heard on the band’s just-released cover of The Who’s “Won’t Get Fooled Again.”

Sargent got the gig after an extensive global search that included an open audition submission in partnership with instrument retailer Sweetwater. As it turns, out Sargent is from Skid Row’s home state of New Jersey.

“We were so fortunate to receive so many audition submissions from singers wanting to front the band,” stated guitarist Dave “Snake” Sabo. “We wanna thank everyone for their time and effort. There are some truly amazing singers out there! But I think that the moment Justin walked in the door we all kind of knew he was the guy. Everything about him; his voice, his attitude, his demeanor, it all just fit. We can’t wait to hit the ground running and get back to doing what we love to do.”

Bassist Rachel Bolan added, “Honestly, for me, it felt like he had been here from the beginning as soon as he walked in the room. He was one of us. A lifer. Then he sang with so much power and conviction, it blew me away. It was amazing.”

And new singer Sargent remarked, “”I’ve been singing Skid Row songs for years, but never imagined I’d actually be joining the band! It’s an incredible honor to be part of something with such a legendary history. The chemistry and energy we’ve found together over the past several months has been amazing. I have tremendous respect for the band’s legacy, but I’m even more excited about what lies ahead. I can’t wait to get out there, connect with the fans, and give them everything I’ve got. Let’s go!”

In 2024, Skid Row parted ways with previous singer Erik Grönwall, who stepped away from the band due to health reasons. While fans lobbied for the band to reunite with classic singer Sebastian Bach, that never came to be.

Sargent actually sounds more like Jon Bon Jovi than Sebastian Bach in the band’s cover of “Won’t Get Fooled Again.” It will be interesting to hear his voice on Skid Row’s classic songs like “18 and Life,” “Youth Gone Wild,” and “I Remember You.”

Fans will get a chance to see and hear Sargent in action when Skid Row embark on a Spring 2027 North American tour. Dates are currently scheduled from a March 5th show in Rancho Mirage, California, through a May 29th gig in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
