Coronation Street reveals winner of Gary Windass's first big prison fight

Despite only being sent behind bars earlier this week, it's been a busy few days for Gary Windass. And now, with the popular character facing several months in prison, it has been revealed who came out on top following a scrap.

Gary was sentenced to eight months imprisonment for his part in the death of Theo Silverton, where he helped close friend Sarah Platt. As she was acting in self-defence, she was set free, but Gary wasn't so lucky.

And if he was thinking of having a quiet time behind bars, he'll have another thing coming. Not only will he be involved with Tyrone Dobbs's scheming father Ross Wilkes, but a troublesome cellmate will also put Gary's future at risk.

Sunday's (25 October) episode of the ITV soap began with Gary chastising his cellmate Jonesy for selling drugs, especially with prison officers lurking. Jonesy, however, wasn't worried, and accused Gary of sucking up to Ross.

Given Gary could see himself out of prison within four months if he behaved well, he urged Jonesy to keep him out of his dealings. The villain, however, wasn't moved, and reminded Gary that he had some "protective" friends who depended on him.

Jonesy didn't let up, and began to taunt Gary by mentioning his wife, Maria. He eventually stepped over the line, with the pair fighting as a smug Ross watched on from outside the cell.

Gary, now sporting a black eye, soon spoke with the prison officer, and said it was the result of a "pillow fight gone wrong". Jonesy, however, had his arm in a sling following the scuffle, proving that Gary wasn't one to be messed with.

Ross confidently said that Jonesy wouldn't pose a problem for Gary any longer, but with the villain already showing a dark side, will he really back off given the fact that both his body and ego have been bruised?

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
