According to Manorama Online, Savithri Sreedharan passed away due to age-related illnesses.Savithri Sreedharan's performance in 'Sudani from Nigeria' brought her wider recognition among Malayalam film audiences.Released in 2018 the Soubin Shahir film featured her as Jameela, popularly remembered as Umma. Her performance earned her a Special Mention at the National Film Awards and the Kerala State Film Award for Best Character Actress.

Savithri Sreedharan's four-decade theatre journey

Long before her film career gained attention, Savithri Sreedharan established herself as a respected theatre actor. She worked with several prominent theatre groups and appeared in thousands of stage productions during her career.Her theatre journey included associations with K.T. Mohammed's Kalinga and theatre groups such as Kozhikode Chiranthana, Sangamam and Stage India. She took on a wide range of demanding characters and became known for her strong stage presence.

Savithri Sreedharan won the Kerala State Award for Best Theatre Artist twice. She received the honor in 1977 and again in 1993. Her contribution to theatre was also recognized with the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Award for Drama in 2009.
