HBO's new legal thriller has debuted its Rotten Tomatoes score.
HBO is preparing to say goodbye to Lanterns, which will air its finale on Sunday, October 4. But before the DCU drama wraps, the network is debuting the tense, star-studded new thriller War, which is premised on how far one couple is willing to go to get the upper hand and win in a turbulent divorce case.

War has debuted to an 83% score on Rotten Tomatoes. As of now, the score is based on 12 reviews. Ten of those are categorized as positive, while two are categorized as negative. The Average of Rated Reviews, which can be viewed by clicking on the Tomatometer, is currently at a stellar 8.30 out of 10. More than a score rating or binary positive or negative labeling, the average points to the fact that reviews are strongly positive. It's worth noting that these numbers may change as more reviews are added in the coming days and weeks.
War premieres on Thursday, October 1, with new episodes releasing weekly. It unfolds in “the exclusive and cutthroat world of London’s legal elite,” according to the official press release, and the eight episodes spotlight the battle between two of the city’s most prestigious law firms: Cathcarts & Sons and Taylor & Byrne.
The two firms take sides in what's described as the divorce case of the century. It involves the gossip-fodder split between a tech mogul, played by The Wire and The Crown's Dominic West, and his movie star wife, played by Anatomy of a Scandal star Sienna Miller. Both sides may have to risk everything and do everything to win.
Archie Renaux, Phoebe Fox, James McArdle, Nina Sosanya and Pip Torrens also star in the George Kay-created drama, which is created by George Kay of Netflix's Lupin and the Apple TV thriller Hijack. Dani Kessel Odom's review of War for ScreenRant praises HBO's latest as “superb,” particularly praising the chemistry between West and Miller.
War is a collaboration between HBO and Sky. It's an anthology that's already renewed for season 2, with the new cast including fan-favorite Marisa Tomei, Kelly Macdonald, and David Harewood, though the next installment promises to explore fresh legal battles and different perspectives. The show's upcoming arrival will give viewers a chance to sample the tone and style, with what looks to be commanding performances.
War season 1, episode 1 debuts Thursday, October 1 on HBO and HBO Max.
