Though his strict approach to leadership contrasts somewhat with Optimus’ more flexible methods, the two still respect one another deeply.

Optimus also has a history of giving Magnus difficult responsibilities that require considerable trust. Most notably, a dying Optimus bestowed the Matrix of Leadership on him in The Transformers: The Movie.
