Coronation Street reveals new baby drama for Bethany and Ryan

Coronation Street's Ryan Connor continues to support pregnant Bethany Platt next week – as he tries to start a candid conversation about the baby's father.

Keen to be a caring boyfriend, Ryan reminds Bethany that she's free to involve the father in her child's life.

The new couple are enjoying a meal at Speed Daal when the subject of her baby's paternity comes up, making Bethany feel deeply uncomfortable.

Ryan still has no idea that Kit Green is the likely father, and tells Bethany he'll support her if she wants to bring the baby's dad into the situation.

However, Bethany knows it'd change everything – is she ready to face up to the reality of what's happened?

"The fact that Ryan is so wonderful makes Bethany feel even more terrible about the situation," explains our Corrie insider.

"Bethany has no idea how he'll react if the truth comes out. Ryan might look at her very differently if he finds out she slept with her mum's ex-fiancé while Sarah was banged up on a murder charge. She stands to lose him and her mum if she tells the truth."

Bethany's web of lies becomes even more complicated once Sarah spills the beans to Kit that her daughter is pregnant.

That big moment takes place when Sarah accompanies Kit to an appointment at the hospital and finds Bethany and Ryan there for her baby scan.

Faced with an uncertain future built on deception and betrayal, will Bethany find the strength to come clean, or keep her terrible secrets hidden?

Lucy Fallon, who plays Bethany, previously teased: "[She feels] really, really, really guilty. Bethany and Sarah have a really good relationship. Bethany has been such a support to her – she's basically been a mum to Harry while Sarah's been in prison.

"They're almost like best friends because they're not so far apart in age. So she's not feeling great about it. I think it's going to eat away at her until one day she can't take it anymore."

Asked whether Bethany would come clean, she replied: "No, I think right now it's deny, deny, deny. Coming clean is not an option, especially if she wants to keep a relationship with her mum, because her mum would have the right to never speak to either of them again.

"I mean, the whole family would, it's not even just Sarah! So she's stuck in an impossible position right now."
