GEORGE TOWN, Oct 13 — Part of the route along Jalan Magazine here will be closed periodically for 131 days starting tomorrow to make way for construction work on the Mutiara Line Light Rail Transit (LRT) Project.

In a statement today, Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) said the long-term closure will start from 10am tomorrow and continue until 5am on February 21, 2027.

“The closure involves the slip road from Lebuh McNair near 1st Avenue Mall towards Jalan Magazine up to the front of Hotel Jen heading towards Komtar.

“However, other routes will remain open for traffic use,” the statement read.

MRT Corp said the closure will facilitate construction work on the Mutiara Line LRT Project under Package CMC1, including road widening and utility relocation works.

Motorists are therefore advised to exercise caution when passing through the area. Signboards, traffic cones and flagmen will be stationed at the location to manage traffic and ensure safety. — Bernama
