Three more suspects have been arrested to assist in investigations into the death of a man who was believed to have been hacked with a machete in front of a shop in Taman Banjar Jaya, Teluk Intan, on Tuesday.

Hilir Perak police chief Chua Kok Lian said the three suspects were in their 30s and 40s.

“Two foreign men were arrested in the early hours of Nov 4 and remanded on the same day until Nov 11.

“A local man was also arrested yesterday, and police will apply for a remand order this morning. The case is still under investigation,” he said in a statement today.

On Nov 4, Chua said preliminary investigations found that the 48-year-old victim had been attacked by three men armed with machetes. The victim was rushed to Teluk Intan Hospital for treatment but was later pronounced dead by medical personnel.

Following the incident, police arrested a 27-year-old local woman who was remanded until Nov 11 to assist in the investigation. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
