Scandinavian Airlines cancels planned Copenhagen-Tel Aviv route over 'not yet suitable' conditions
SAS stopped flying to Israel in March 2016 and briefly resumed service in October 2025. Several months later, however, it suspended the flights again.
Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) canceled plans to resume direct flights between Israel and Denmark, the airline said on Thursday.
SAS, the largest airline in northern Europe, said the decision followed a reassessment of the planned Copenhagen-Tel Aviv route.
“Following the latest assessment we conducted in recent days regarding operational and commercial factors, we have concluded that conditions are not yet suitable for launching the planned Copenhagen to Tel Aviv route at this time.”
The airline added that “Tel Aviv remains an important destination for SAS and for our customers, and we will continue to monitor developments and examine the opportunity to launch the route in the future.”
Flights initially stopped in 2016, then briefly resumed in 2025
SAS stopped flying to Israel in March 2016 and briefly resumed service in October 2025. Several months later, however, it suspended the flights again.
The route initially operated three times a week, but after several months, SAS suspended its operations in Israel as well as at its other destinations in the Middle East.
