Michael Burry has added to his positions in BYD (BYDFF), Sprouts Farmers Market (SFM), and JD.com (JD), while maintaining his holdings in Fiserv (FISV) and PayPal (PYPL), according to his latest investment updates.
Burry added to his BYD (BYDDY) shares and added to his 2028 LEAP call options on Sprouts (SFM) and 2029 call options on JD.com (JD). He described JD (JD) as a large position and BYD (BYDDY) as a mid-sized holding. He did not disclose the size of the additional purchases or options contracts.
Burry also drew a comparison between the prolonged decline in Hong Kong stocks since the Hang Seng Index's 2021 peak and the Great Depression, highlighting the scale and duration of the market downturn.
Separately, Burry sees a potential buyout valuation of $100-$120 per share for Fiserv (FISV), compared with its recent share price of around $50. That implies approximately 100%-140% upside.
In his November 2 Substack post, Burry used the reported private-equity interest in Global Payments (GPN) as a valuation reference for Fiserv (FISV). He argued that applying a similar 7x profit multiple to Fiserv (FISV) supports a substantially higher takeout value.
Burry said Fiserv (FISV) has been held back by overly ambitious growth targets set by its previous management and poorly disclosed benefits from Argentine hyperinflation. He also pointed to insider buying at current price levels.
At around $50 per share, Burry believes Fiserv (FISV) could offer an annualized return of 15% or more. He said he intends to maintain his position in the company.
Burry also reiterated his positive view on PayPal (PYPL), describing it as a 'Fat Pitch' at prices in the $50s, while characterizing his holding as small to normal in size.
