Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha presents the story of Shri Ram through the perspective of a young boy named Shashwat. As per the film’s synopsis, Lord Hanuman appears as a sage and narrates Shri Ram’s life and journey to the child.The film attempts to bring the timeless epic to a new generation while retaining its spiritual and mythological elements.The cast includes Dev Sharma as Shri Ram, Anjali Arora as Sita and Rajniesh Duggall as Ravan. Sheel Verma plays Lakshman, while Nirbhay Wadhwa portrays Hanuman. The film has been directed by Abhishek Singh and was released theatrically on September 25 in Hindi and Chhattisgarhi.

Dev Sharma reveals he was rejected as Lakshman in 'Ramayana' and 'Adipurush'

Ahead of the release, Dev Sharma also made headlines after revealing that he had previously been considered for the role of Lakshman in both Adipurush and Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana.Speaking at the trailer launch of 'Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha', Dev said his look tests for both projects had reached an advanced stage but he was ultimately not finalised.“Before this, I was offered the role of Lakshman in both Adipurush as well as Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana. My look tests were also almost finalised, but things didn't work out,” he said.The actor said his physical proportions became an issue during the casting process.

Referring to Ramayana, he explained that he was two inches taller than the actor playing Lord Rama. In the case of Adipurush, he said he was as physically large as Prabhas, who played Rama in the film.“Somewhere (hinting at Ramayana), I was two inches taller than the actor playing Lord Rama, and in another (Adipurush), I was as huge as the actor playing Lord Rama (Prabhas), so I wasn't finalised,” Dev said.He added that the repeated setbacks left him wondering whether his “connection with Ramayana” was not meant to be.'Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha' released on September 25.
