5-year-old girl killed, mother hurt in Sultan Kudarat road accident

KORONADAL CITY — A five-year-old girl was killed and her mother was injured after a vehicle failed to climb an uphill road and rolled backward, hitting them in Bagumbayan town, Sultan Kudarat, on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 10, police said.
The Bagumbayan Municipal Police Station reported that the accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. in Purok Sambag, Barangay South Sepaka.
Based on the initial investigation, a white Midi Gratour driven by Jerry Jisim Requiso, a resident of Alabel, Sarangani, was traveling uphill when its engine suddenly stopped.

The vehicle then rolled backward and struck the girl and her mother, identified as RaySalik Bernesto Tang. Both victims were residents of Lake Sebu, South Cotabato.
The girl suffered severe head injuries and died at the scene. Her family later brought her body to Serenity Funeral Homes.
Her mother sustained minor injuries and was taken to a hospital in South Cotabato for treatment.
Police said the driver was arrested following the incident and brought to the Bagumbayan Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.

Authorities also requested a postmortem examination of the girl’s body as part of the investigation.
