The ending of ‘Furious’ explained: how does it set up season two?
Buried memories rise to the surface in the season one finale of Furious.
Created by Elizabeth Meriwether, the crime drama follows FBI agent Alice Black as she pursues serial killer Catherine Grace, who is a survivor of sex trafficking.
Emmy Rossum and Lola Petticrew lead the show’s cast, alongside Quincy Tyler Bernstine, Scoot McNairy, Jake Lacy, Rob Yang, Steve Way and Hope Davis.
Furious has been renewed for a second season, with all eight episodes of season one available on Disney+ in the UK.

Who killed Isabel in the Furious finale?
The season one finale sees Catherine (Lola Petticrew) head into the house of child abuser Jay Easton (Peter McRobbie). As Catherine arrives, she interrupts his daughter Emma Easton (Hope Davis), who is trying to hide the remaining evidence of her father’s crimes.
After a confrontation in the greenhouse, where Catherine gets shot in the shoulder, they both end up in the house – along with Alice Black (Emmy Rossum) who was shortly behind and ran into the house after hearing a gunshot.
Catherine returns to the room where she was abused in the house, and starts to remember parts of what happened to her late friend Isabel. Emma, who was watching the abuse take place from the sidelines at the time, states Isabel was still alive when she left the room.
This sparks a sudden realisation for Catherine, as she realises she was the one who killed Isabel at her friend’s request – in order to stop the pain she was going through.
Who killed Jay Easton?
While it initially appears as if Jay Easton dies abruptly from respiratory failure with Alice at his bedside, we later discover Alice deliberately stepped on his breathing tube and choked him to death, all while calling for medical assistance. This is revealed during the episode’s final scenes, as Alice meets Catherine in prison.
How does this set up Furious season 2?
After the revelation that Alice killed Jay, we see Alice check a database to see who accessed the video of her abuse when she was 14. She discovers it’s been downloaded thousands of times, with a list of names identifying the people who accessed it.
This sparks an unexpected smile from Alice, and after Catherine asks if she enjoyed killing Jay moments ago, it suggests Alice will follow in Catherine’s footsteps by hunting those who downloaded the file in season two.
