TANJUNG MALIM, Nov 7 — An 18-year-old woman was killed and a six-year-old girl injured after the car they were travelling in crashed into a road barrier along the North-South Expressway near Tanjung Malim this morning.

Both were trapped in the wreckage of the Honda City following the crash at KM388 of the southbound highway, which also left a 20-year-old woman injured.

According to Astro Awani, the Perak Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 8.35am.

The department's Operations Division assistant director, Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad, said the 18-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene by Health Ministry personnel.

The six-year-old girl, who was also trapped in the vehicle, survived with injuries.

Firefighters used hydraulic rescue equipment to free the trapped victims after assessing the scene.

The two injured victims were handed over to Health Ministry personnel for treatment, while the teenager's body was handed over to police for further action.

Sabarodzi said the identities of the three victims had yet to be established.

Eight firefighters from the Tanjung Malim Fire and Rescue Station were involved in the operation, which ended at 9.46am.
