A: To prevent “AI doomsday theory” from becoming a reality, novelist Isaac Asimov actually proposed the “Three Laws of Robotics” in 1942.

B: Aren’t those the robot laws that often appear in sci-fi films?

A: Bingo, that’s them. The First Law: “A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.”

B: This is super important — after all, safety first.

A: The Second Law: “A robot must obey the orders given to it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.” The Third Law: “A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.”
