Police arrest suspect over alleged Bauchi murder case
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old man, Abdulrazak Sale, in connection with the alleged murder of a 46-year-old man, Rilwanu Dauda, in the Karofin Madaki area of the state.
The command’s spokesperson, Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, saying the suspect was arrested three months after the incident.
According to Habib, Dauda, a resident of Karofi, was attacked and allegedly stabbed with a knife by Sale, also known as “Abba Sale Police”, and members of his gang on July 5, 2026.
The victim was reportedly rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where a medical doctor certified him dead at about 11am the same day.
Following the incident, the police said the suspects fled and were subsequently placed on the command’s watchlist.
The command added that the suspects had previously been linked to a politically motivated murder in the same area before going into hiding.
Acting on credible information, operatives attached to the ‘A’ Division, Township, arrested Sale on October 5, 2026, exactly three months after the alleged murder.
The police said efforts were ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects, who were still at large.

Reacting to the development, the state Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the operatives for their professionalism and persistence in tracking down the suspect.
He directed that the case be thoroughly investigated before the suspect is charged to court.
The statement quoted the commissioner as saying, “The Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, while commending the operatives for their professionalism and resilience, warned that no criminal will have a hiding place in Bauchi State.
“He directed that the case be thoroughly investigated and charged to court.”
The arrest came one month after the command arrested seven suspects in connection with a violent clash that reportedly claimed two lives in the Dass Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects were arrested for alleged criminal conspiracy, inciting public disturbance and culpable homicide.
According to the police, the incident occurred on September 4, 2026, at about 6pm, when one of the suspects, Ibrahim El-Safwan, allegedly conspired with others to attack a 29-year-old tricycle rider, Abdulrahman Nuru, in the Tudun Wus area of Dass.
Nuru, a resident of the Bundot area of Dass, was allegedly attacked and stabbed with cutlasses on different parts of his body, the police said.
