Dev Meena betters pole vault National Record at Asian Games 2026

Dev Meena bettered his own National Record in the men’s pole vault during the Asian Games 2026 final on Tuesday.
His previous record was 5.46m, which he cleared at the Inter-State Athletics Championships earlier this year. The effort also helped him breach the qualification mark for the Asiad.
The clearance at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar came barely a month after Meena and Kuldeep Kumar had shared the national record, with identical 5.45m efforts at the Federation Cup in Ranchi.
In Japan, Meena cleared 5.50m to improve on that mark and register a new Personal Best. However, he bowed out of contention after failing to clear 5.60m.
Compatriot Kuldeep was also in the final but finished 10th with a best clearance of 5.35m.
At the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Meena missed out on a podium finish after finishing fourth with a best of 5.30m.
