Coronation Street fans confused over David Platt change in Jodie story

Coronation Street has left fans puzzled by David Platt's oblivious behaviour towards evil Jodie Ramsey.
Ever since her first appearance, Jodie has been trying to drive a wedge between her older sister Shona and her husband David. This month, she's resorted to a cruel plan to make it seem like Shona is unable to take care of baby Harper.
Now he's back from visiting Gail in France, David hasn't clocked her sister-in-law's true intentions.
Commenting on the soap's latest episodes, fans have been complaining that David appears to have forgotten about Jodie's initial attempts to make a pass at him to get back at Shona.
This week, Shona burnt the cake she'd been baking for Lily's school bake sale. Overwhelmed, she removed the batteries from the smoke alarm not to wake up her sleeping daughter, took out the cake from the oven and took a nap, all whilst Jodie looked on from the garden, ready to make her move.
With Shona asleep, Jodie put back the cake into the oven so it'd appear like Shona had forgotten it on and endangered herself and Harper.
Next, Jodie was left fuming when her offer to help David with Shona resulted in him agreeing to let her babysit Harper so he could take his wife out on a date.
As David isn't particularly concerned by Jodie's attitude, Corrie fans have pointed out that his trusting nature seems out of character.
"David Platt has been an expert grudge bearer since he was about 5 years old. Suddenly complete amnesia about what Jodie has done," one viewer wrote on Twitter/X.
"Unbelievable tripe. What have you done to my favourite programme? When is Jodie leaving?"

"David needs to smarten up and stay well away from Jodie," was another comment. "She's trying it on with David again, and especially after last time. You'd think he'd learn by now!"
Finally, one fan rejoiced that Jodie's plans aren't going "her way".
"The only positive is that it doesn't seem like Jodie's schemes are going her way, they said, while someone else has grown impatient that nobody seems to see Jodie's true colours.
"When [are] Shona and David gonna find out about Jodie and that she's doing all this stuff? When Harper is married with kids of her own?" they joked. "This is just dragging out. And it's annoying me no one sees she's evil."
Meanwhile, David star Jack P Shepherd has offered an explanation as to why his character and Shona aren't worried about Jodie.
"Jodie appears to be supporting the family and it's come at a perfect time now that David and Shona have brought baby Harper back home," he said in an exclusive chat with Digital Spy in August.
"A lot of people are saying to me: 'Why has David not just closed the door on Jodie and kicked her out for good?' But it isn't his sister – it's his wife's sister and there's nowt as weird as family, is there? I mean, the Platts can prove that!
"You're always going to have someone in your family who you don't like and don't get on with, but that's family – you can't pick them. Shona has got Jodie as a sister and that's that. They'll have to get along, and hopefully Jodie won't run off with Shona's husband!"
Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
