Canadian man charged with three hate crimes by Ontario police over antisemitic social media content

A 27-year-old man from Stoney Creek, Canada, was arrested and charged last Wednesday with multiple hate crimes following an investigation into antisemitic online content by the Hamilton Police Hate Crime Unit.

Hamilton police launched an inquiry in July 2025 after receiving a report concerning material posted publicly to an account on the social media platform X/Twitter. Investigators spent months examining the account and the material being shared before identifying Simran Mander as the individual believed to be operating the profile.

Following the required consent of the Attorney General to proceed with the case, Mander was taken into custody. Authorities formally charged him with wilful promotion of hatred, wilful promotion of antisemitism, and advocating genocide.

Hamilton Police recognize impact of hate crimes

The Hamilton Police Service noted in a statement that they recognize the significant impact hate crimes and hate incidents can have on individuals, targeted communities, and the broader public. Officials stated that the force remains committed to investigating hate-motivated incidents and holding those responsible accountable.

The allegations have not yet been proven in court. Police have encouraged anyone who believes they have been the victim of or witnessed a hate crime or hate incident to contact local investigators or reach out to Crime Stoppers.
