Arab Israeli arrested after allegedly making contact with Lebanese foreign agent

The man, Hamdan Hamdan, is alleged to have been aware that the agent he was in contact with was Lebanese, and to have requested to be given security missions in Israel.

A 32-year-old man from Majd al-Krum was arrested on suspicion of making contact with a foreign agent several months ago in order to conduct missions in Israel on their behalf, Israel Police announced on Friday.

The man, Hamdan Hamdan, is alleged to have been aware that the agent he was in contact with was Lebanese, and to have requested to be given security missions in Israel.

In exchange for his services, the police stated, the foreign agent attempted to purchase Israeli goods for Hamdan and transfer them to him.

Police arrest man for making contact with Hamas, Iran

Earlier on Friday, Israel Police announced that they had arrested a 31-year-old man from Tamra on suspicion of making contact with both Hamas and Iran forces in an attempt to aid them.

According to the police, the man, Sultan Abu al-Haija, had made contact with the military wing of Hamas to covertly offer his assistance, and had also reached out to Iranian forces, although he was arrested before being able to conduct any operations for them.

An indictment against al-Haija is expected to be issued on Friday, while one against Hamdan is expected to be issued on Sunday, the police said.

In a response to Hamdan's arrest, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said that people in the Galilee were "in the atmosphere of October 6."

He accused residents of Majd al-Krum of chanting "long live Palestine," and said that it was time to bring "the revolution in Judea and Samaria" to the Galilee and the Negev.

"Within a few days," he said, "it turns out that what could ignite the Galilee is not shepherd farms, but radical Islamic forces that are establishing themselves in a place where there aren't enough Jews."
