The Senate impeachment court on Tuesday released the new schedule of the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte for next month.

According to presiding officer Francis “Chiz” Escudero, the impeachment court shall hold trial in the following dates:

  • November 9: Court will convene at 10 a.m., the Senate will have a session in the afternoon and resume the trial after the session
  • November 10: Whole day, from 10 a.m. onwards
  • November 11: Court will convene at 10 a.m., the Senate may conduct session in the afternoon as needed
  • November 12: Whole day, from 10 a.m. onwards
  • November 13: Whole day, from 10 a.m. onwards
  • November 19: Whole day, from 10 a.m. onwards
  • November 20: Whole day, from 10 a.m. onwards
  • November 23: From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. only

“The Court is presently ahead of its projected trial schedule under the pre-trial order given the schedule proposed for the presentation of prosecution evidence by 20 trial days as of today because of our whole day hearings,” Escudero said.

“However, due to the scheduled recess of about three weeks, we will only be ahead by three trial days by November 9. And considering the budget hearings, the ASEAN-related break, and other holidays, eight available trial days will be lost in the month of November,” he added.

The presiding officer said the court shall decide on the impeachment schedule in December as the case may be, hopefully at the beginning of November to give the parties adequate time. — RSJ, GMA News
