Casualty stars Melanie Hill and Kirsty Mitchell have spoken about the ending for the 40th anniversary episodes. The pair, who play Siobhan McKenzie and Faith Cadogan respectively, described the scenes as "beautiful".
The popular BBC medical drama is celebrating the milestone with a special double-bill, with the action following several characters as an explosion at Holby ED threatens the lives of various people.

Viewers have already been treated to the anniversary episodes on BBC iPlayer, which dropped on the streaming service at 6am, with the two episodes also airing on BBC One tonight from 8pm.
In an exclusive interview with Digital Spy, Melanie and Kirsty both spoke about their favourite moments from filming, with a "nail-biting" scene and a "horrendous" moment between Stevie and Flynn being some notable situations.
"My favourite overall is towards the end, and it's just showing the team after what happens and how life carries on," said Melanie. "There's a beautiful, very poignant moment where a simple thing - the cleaning staff come in, and it's another day."
"And it just sends chills down you because the people who've been there through the night are just spent and have given everything. That's all I'm going to say, but something beautiful happens at the end. It made me cry, it really did," she added.

Kirsty echoed the sentiments of her co-star as she highlighted the same scene, noting: "I do have a favourite moment. And it wasn't one of the big, dramatic scenes, as exciting as they are. It's the aftermath.
"There is a scene in the aftermath where everybody's just shattered and broken. It's so sweet and beautiful, and it's near the end. Watching everybody support each other through that part, I think the end is the nicest part for me."
Casualty airs on Saturday nights on BBC One and now streams first on BBC iPlayer, where episodes are released at 6am on the day of transmission. The show's 40th anniversary double bill airs on Saturday 5 September on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
