Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has penned a heartfelt tribute to the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, acknowledging that Kenyans are increasingly realizing how much they relied on his political presence and leadership.

In a Facebook post published on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, the lawmaker reflected on the approaching one-year anniversary of the veteran politician’s passing. She lauded his unique political style, noting his rare ability to blend governance agendas, sharp humor, and public charisma.

“Nobody mixed politics, humor, and vibes like Raila Odinga. Most importantly, he had an agenda for the country,” Nyamu wrote. She highlighted the collective sense of loss felt across the political divide, adding, “In exactly a month, it will be a year of Kenya without Baba. We didn’t know how much we’d miss him.”

The former Prime Minister passed away on October 15, 2025, at the age of 80 after suffering cardiac arrest while undergoing treatment in Kochi, Kerala, India. His unexpected death prompted President William Ruto to declare seven days of national mourning. Following a state funeral in Nairobi with full military honors, he was laid to rest on October 18, 2025, at his ancestral home in Bondo, Siaya County.
