Govt calls transport operators to prepare year-end holidays

Translate

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi urged all transport service operators to prepare operational plans ahead of the 2026 Christmas and 2027 New Year holiday period to anticipate heavy traffic, operational risks, and emergencies.

In a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Tuesday, the minister underscored the need to ensure fleet, crew, and operational system readiness to guarantee reliable and smooth services.

“I ask that all operators prepare operational plans for Christmas and New Year,” Purwagandhi said.

Operational plans must outline risk management, passenger surge readiness, capacity controls, and emergency response procedures for potential service disruptions.

The Ministry of Transportation also instructed all operators to ensure fleet safety compliance through routine inspections, confirming all modes are prepared to serve travelers.

Beyond the fleet, crew and field staff readiness remains a priority as service quality relies heavily on their competence, health, and ability to handle operational challenges.

The minister called for consistent oversight to ensure safety violations are addressed immediately, without waiting for service disruptions to occur.

"Ministry officials will conduct consistent, objective inspections. We will ensure every issue is resolved, and any safety violation will be dealt with decisively under existing regulations," the minister said.

Furthermore, operators are also expected to adjust their operational measures if conditions change, including severe weather or passenger surges that require a swift, measured response on the ground.

Purwagandhi underlined that evaluations from the previous year-end travel period serve as the basis for enhancing operating systems to make transport services more effective, efficient, and responsive to meet public needs.

The Ministry of Transportation considers the success of the year-end travel operations dependent on the readiness of all operators to execute operational plans rigorously, alongside strong stakeholder coordination.
