Ritchson is one of the world's biggest stars. After all, he gives life to none other than Jack Reacher on Prime Video's Reacher, one of the most popular shows on streaming.

Alan Ritchson's War Machine Has Been A Streaming Smash For Netflix
War Machine came out of the gate as a streaming sensation for Netflix. According to official Netflix data, in the action thriller's first week on the streaming service, War Machine logged a whopping 71.4 million hours viewed on Netflix around the world. Taking that and dividing it by the movie's 1 hour and 49 minutes runtime, Ritchson's War Machine racked up an impressive 39.3 million views in the first week it was available on Netflix. That was enough to make the action thriller the most-watched movie on Netflix in the world, with Jurassic World Rebirth in 2nd with 6.7 million views, a considerable difference.
While it might not have been one of Netflix's 10 most popular movies worldwide in the past week, War Machine continues to stand on the most important chart on the streaming service. After all, Ritchson's new action thriller is simply the 10th most-watched movie in Netflix history. In its first 91 days on Netflix, which is the period the streamer sets for movies to accrue data for the chart, War Machine brought in 139.9 million views and a total of 254.2 million hours viewed on the streaming service worldwide.
War Machine broke into the coveted all-time Netflix chart at the start of June, and no other movie released on the streaming service since then has been able to knock it off the 10th spot. Netflix has released several popular movies since then, including the Robert De Niro crime thriller The Whisper Man, Wagner Moura's sci-fi thriller The Last House, Kevin Hart's comedy 72 Hours, but no film has dethroned Ritchson's action thriller. Additionally, the Reacher star saw his Netflix movie trend on the streamer's global Top 10 Movies chart for 10 weeks in 2026 so far.
A Sequel Is Already In Development
Given the action thriller's streaming success, Netflix did not take long to officially put a War Machine sequel into development. The announcement came on June 2, right as Ritchson's sci-fi thriller made its way to Netflix's all-time movies chart. Ritchson is expected to return for the upcoming Netflix movie, with director Patrick Hughes confirmed to come back.
War Machine is one of the many projects Ritchson will now be a part of at the streamer. Despite making Prime Video his home given his continued commitment to new seasons of Reacher, Ritchson has signed an overall movie deal with Netflix, as the actor will produce and star in new movies for the streamer, including a revealed heist thriller set in the MotoGP world.
