President calls for APBN 2027 to maximize public welfare

Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has instructed his cabinet members during a limited meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday that the 2027 State Budget (APBN) must be maximized for welfare and social protection.

The directive was conveyed by Minister of Finance Suahasil Nazara after he reported on the results of the 7th Plenary Session of the House of Representatives (DPR) for First Session of the 2026-2027 Legislative Year at the Parliament Complex on Tuesday (September 29).

"I reported the state revenue and expenditure targets to the President. State revenue is more than Rp3,400 trillion, while state expenditure is more than Rp4,100 trillion," Suahasil said, speaking to reporters after the limited meeting.

He also informed the President the importance to continue maintaining economic conditions, including various forms of strengthened assistance needed for the current situation.

The minister then reiterated the President's directive to himself and other state officials who attended the meeting.

"The President's instruction is to keep maintain the credibility of the State Budget, and to continue measured efficiency so that the state budget can truly be maximized for welfare, social protection, and infrastructure development," Suahasil said.

The minister said the meeting also discussed investments that will be handled by sovereign wealth fund Danantara, as well as collaboration between APBN and Danantara in development programs.

"We are collaborating very closely between Danantara and the state budget. Danantara and APBN are working together, sharing tasks to safeguard Indonesia's economy," Suahasil said.

He said the state budget is used to finance programs related to public services, basic infrastructure, and government operations.

"Danantara, meanwhile, is focused on investment. Investment will be a major focus of Danantara. Earlier, we discussed extensively about the momentum and synergy we need to pursue together," Suahasil said.
