Gharbiya murderer reveals shocking details of why he killed his parents

Translate

A friend of the man accused of killing his parents in the village of Mahallat Marhoum (Tanta), Gharbiya governorate, revealed details of the shocking moments leading up to the discovery of the massacre that shook the governorate.

Ibrahim Nagy explained that he received a call from the neighbors of the accused, Mohamed Nabil al-Sherbiny, asking for help due to the latter’s deteriorating health.

Upon arrival, he found his friend inside a car, asking to be handed over to the police.

“I’ve done something terrible… I killed my father and mother,” he confessed.

The friend said that he initially tried to calm him down, thinking he was joking due to his illness; the accused had been undergoing treatment for six years—under a renowned psychiatrist—for obsessive-compulsive disorder, schizophrenia, and acute chronic psychosis.

His condition had recently deteriorated and he was mentally unstable.

Nagy added that he went with neighbors and friends to the victims’ apartment to check on them after failing to reach them by phone.

There they made the gruesome discovery of the father’s body, lying in a pool of blood and showing signs of decomposition, while the mother’s body was found near the kitchen door.

He notified emergency services, who them arrested the suspect and took him to Tanta police station.

The friend of the perpetrator expressed deep shock and wept over the fate of the suspect, describing the incident as “unfathomable”—especially given that the accused had been an outstanding student who graduated at the top of his class from law school.

Nagy attributed this heinous crime primarily to a lack of awareness regarding how to deal with mental illness.
