KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 4 — Train services on the MRT Putrajaya Line are experiencing delays following a power supply disruption caused by a cable theft incident near Taman Equine Station, according to Rapid KL.

In a statement, Rapid KL said the incident was detected at 5.24 am today when a train was unable to move at Taman Equine Station, prompting its technical team to conduct inspections and repair work to restore the power supply and train services.

Following the disruption, passengers are expected to experience longer waiting times on platforms, particularly at UPM, 16 Sierra and Putrajaya Sentral stations.

To assist passengers in continuing their journeys, alternative train and shuttle bus services have been activated, involving trains from Kwasa Damansara Station turning back at UPM Station at 10-minute intervals, as well as trains operating between UPM and 16 Sierra stations, also at 10-minute intervals.

Shuttle trains between 16 Sierra and Putrajaya Sentral stations are operating at seven-minute intervals, the statement said.

In addition, free shuttle buses are operating between Serdang Jaya, UPM, Taman Equine, Putra Permai, 16 Sierra, Cyberjaya Utara, Cyberjaya City Centre and Putrajaya Sentral stations at intervals of 15 to 20 minutes, depending on current traffic conditions.

Passengers using the Putrajaya Line to travel to Sepang via the ERL service at Putrajaya Sentral are advised to allow for longer travel times due to the disruption.

Rapid KL also advised passengers to use alternative routes via KL Sentral and Bandar Tasik Selatan ERL stations.

“To ensure the safety and smooth movement of passengers, auxiliary police personnel and station staff have been stationed on platforms and in station concourses to assist passengers. Regular announcements on train schedules are also being made at the stations,” it said.

Rapid KL takes the cable theft incident seriously as it could affect the smooth operation of services and operational safety.

It will continue to monitor the situation and provide the latest updates on service status from time to time via its social media platforms and journey-planning app. — Bernama
