Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Trade recorded a 13.47 percent increase in Indonesia’s processed food exports from January to August 2026 compared with the same period last year.

“From January to August 2026, the value of Indonesia’s processed food exports reached US$4.49 billion, up 13.47 percent from the same period last year,” the ministry’s Director General of National Export Development, Fajarini Puntodewi, said in a statement issued during SIAL Food & Drinks Indonesia on Wednesday.

She said the growth reflected the increasing competitiveness of Indonesian food products in global markets and offered greater opportunities to expand their international reach.

“Indonesia has significant potential in the food and beverage industry, as reflected in the continued growth of national processed food exports,” she said.

Puntodewi also described trade exhibitions such as SIAL Food & Drinks Indonesia 2026 as strategic platforms for connecting Indonesian businesses with international partners. She said the event could help expand market access and strengthen the global competitiveness of Indonesian food and beverage products.

Held from November 4 to 6, 2026, at the Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) Kemayoran, the exhibition features more than 500 brands from 16 countries and regions. It brings together producers, suppliers, distributors, retailers, and professional buyers from Indonesia and international markets.

Through its business-to-business (B2B) platform, the exhibition connects stakeholders across the food and beverage industry value chain.

Puntodewi said the platform offered opportunities to expand business networks, explore strategic partnerships, facilitate exchanges of products and technology, and improve access to international markets.

“SIAL Food & Drinks Indonesia 2026 can serve as a platform for building long-term business relationships and establishing concrete collaborations,” she said.

Meanwhile, SIAL Network – ASEAN & India Managing Director Henri Tan highlighted the significant potential of Indonesia’s food and beverage industry, supported by its large domestic market, abundant agricultural resources, and dynamic entrepreneurial ecosystem.

He emphasized the exhibition’s role in connecting local businesses with international market opportunities.

“This is where the SIAL Network plays an important role as a two-way bridge, linking Indonesian producers with international buyers and business partners while introducing global businesses to opportunities in Indonesia,” Tan said.
