Sha'Carri Richardson Makes Epic Comeback 3 Years After Suspension

Before competing at the ATHLOS track and field event in London Sept. 18, Olympian Sha'Carri Richardson brought her A-game to the red carpet, wearing a head-to-toe custom Nike Atelier ensemble.

Marking the brand’s red carpet debut, the 26-year-old’s look included a fitted rib-knit corset and matching micro shorts, as well as an oversized jacket made of Nike FlyWeb material. To top of it off, hand-set Swarovski crystals outlined both the jacket and her thigh-high socks, making for an eye-catching moment.

Every part of the look was made with the history-making sprinter, who serves as an advisor in the series, in mind.

“For Sha'Carri, this means creating something that captures the force of her presence both on and off the track,” the brand shared in a press release. “Inspired by the qualities that have made her one of the sport's most influential voices, the design brings together her ambition, style, and individuality in a look crafted uniquely for her.”

In fact, the event’s location served as a backdrop too.

“Drawing from London's reflective beauty after rainfall, the ensemble balances shadow and light through weathered textures,” the brand noted, “luminous details, and sculptural silhouettes."

At the ATHLOS event, Richardson shared her excitement for the red carpet festivities.

"It makes the moment more real," she told USA Sports, "as well as makes the moment more over the top."

"What we do in track and field is so special," Richardson continued, "we should be able to feel that way all the time. So getting on a red carpet and having a whole outfit on before I walk in, it already gives me the energy, like I'm that girl and I'm just ready to show up and let me speed do the talking."

ATHLOS, the women’s track and field series founded by Alexis Ohanian, was launched in 2024. Now, two years later, Ohanian—who is married to Serena Williams—shared why having this event take place across the pond makes it one worth lining up for.

"London has the best athletics crowd in the world and it has spent this whole summer watching British athletes win,” he shared in a statement ahead of the event. “We’ re not bringing attention to women's sport in this city. It's already here. We’re building the stage that matches it. The ladies on this track are the most compelling athletes in the sport, full stop.”
