Alaba medical successful so 34-year-old free agent can join Udinese

David Alaba has completed his medical tests in Rome and will now travel north to sign the new contract with Udinese as a free agent.

The former Real Madrid defender has been out of contract since his deal at the Bernabeu expired on June 30.

He had been linked with other Serie A sides in recent months, along with Union Berlin, Club America, Inter Miami and Al-Sadd, but made the surprising move to Udinese at the age of 34.

The Austria international landed in Rome this morning and underwent his medical tests at the Villa Stuart clinic, the most famous sports medical centre in Italy and where many clubs get players checked over before signing.

According to various reports including Sky Sport Italia, no issues were flagged, so Alaba was given the all-clear to travel north to Udine for the contract signature.

It is set to be a short-term agreement for the defender, who split his career largely between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, winning four Champions League trophies, 10 Bundesliga titles, two LaLiga trophies, three European Super Cups, three Club World Cups and many more.
