Manchester City was handed a second successive defeat in the Premier League after Brighton and Hove Albion pulled off a nervy 1-0 win at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

Yasin Ayari scored the only goal of the game in the 11th minute as Brighton bounced back to winning ways, while registering its first win at the home of the eight-time Premier League champion.

City, which lost 2-1 to Aston Villa last week, still remains top of the standings with 21 points after nine outings. Arsenal, which also has the same number of points, can leapfrog Enzo Maresca’s side when it visits Liverpool on Sunday.

Brighton has moved within two points of City and Arsenal and is placed third.
