Packed platforms, long waits hit Kelana Jaya LRT line

Translate

KUALA LUMPUR: Commuters reported packed platforms and long waits between trains on the Kelana Jaya LRT line, with Rapid KL putting crowd control measures in place at six stations.

In a Facebook post at 7.30am, the operator said Sri Rampai, Wangsa Maju, Setiawangsa, Jelatek, Masjid Jamek and Pasar Seni stations were expected to see more passengers, causing congestion.

"To ensure passenger safety and smooth movement, passenger entry and flow control is being implemented at the stations involved," it said.

Frustrated commuters responded to the post and reported delays at several stations until 8.50am.

Some shared photos of the crowded stations.

One commuter, Noor Farhana, said Wangsa Maju station was already packed at 8.27am, with only two or three people able to board each train and the next train 10 minutes away.

Another commuter, Muhammad Adli Alias, said Putra Heights, the first station on the line, was already full at about 8.25am, and that two trains with only two coaches had passed while the interval to Petaling Jaya remained at six minutes.

Others said they had waited up to seven minutes at Kelana Jaya line stations at around 8.50am and called for empty trains to be sent to Sri Rampai.

Responding to a commuter at Setiawangsa, Rapid KL said its operations team was deploying empty trains to selected stations to clear the crowds.
